2025 has been a really dynamic year for me – full of some major shifts!
Let me break it down:
- Sold all my hardware and moved completely to ITB.
- Switched from Windows to Mac for composing music.
- Switched from Windows to Linux for gaming.
- And… I even changed my job!
That’s a lot to take in, right? :)
I’m excited about all these changes and wanted to share a bit more detail.
Going Fully ITB
I was already composing digitally, but I still relied on hardware for audio mastering. Now my entire setup is ITB! This means the next album (coming next year!) might have a slightly different sonic character. I’ve already been experimenting with mastering a few tracks using the new setup, and honestly, it feels fantastic. I’m really happy with the results so far – stay tuned for more! =)
Hello Mac, Goodbye Windows (for composing)
I’ve been a long-time Windows user, but recently I started having some concerns about user privacy. That was a big factor in my decision to switch to Mac. It feels good to be on a platform where I feel more control over my data.
Linux for Gaming – Seriously!
I’m genuinely surprised at how well Linux handles modern games, especially those distributed on Steam. Thanks to Proton, I can now play a huge number of Windows games natively on Linux! I’m a big fan of openSUSE, and I’m currently running Tumbleweed – it’s incredibly stable. And fun fact: I’ve been using Linux since 1994! My first distro was Slackware – a long time ago.
A New Chapter at Work
Haha, this is a bit personal, but after six years, I’ve moved on from my previous company. So how’s the new job going? Well… it’s okay so far! I’m still getting settled in, but things are looking promising. :p
