I think I discovered this world is poisoned by the smartphone.

I used to think the problem was caused by the Internet and SNS. Indeed SNS may be making the world worse because it totally changed communication style. It’s so light and so thin. You can remove or block people instantly if you don’t like them. You don’t hear any negative feedback, like closing your eyes and plugging your ears.

But the root problem is, in my opinion, the “smartphone”.

You can waste your time so easily on your smartphone on a train, in a restaurant, at a coffee shop, and in bed anytime, even midnight to early morning.

SNS grew because people can reach the system anytime, but what if there was no smartphone? You had to turn on your computer, connect to the Internet, and then access SNS, like in the MySpace era. It wasn’t super instant, but SNS was already born and everybody could visit it.

But that time wasn’t so poisonous to people. Even if people got addicted to MySpace, you couldn’t access it unless you had an Internet device. You might have wanted to go to an Internet cafe or somewhere like that to connect to the Internet if you went out.

Now people can reach SNS anywhere anytime, even while driving a car. (I don’t recommend using your phone in this situation by the way.)

I finally realized we might need some inconvenience to keep life safe. It might be the same with AI as well. It’s super convenient to use AI to find things, do work, create art, program, and so on. But it’s too convenient and might ruin a human’s life and skills. It must be a tool but it shouldn’t replace humans.

But no one can stop smartphones, SNS, and AI. Because businesses make so much money even if users are poisoned, so they don’t care.

As for me, I use a smartphone too because I need a phone to communicate with my family, I need to access my bank account, I need to pay for things when I eat out at a restaurant. But I don’t use it for anything else. Actually for my needs I don’t need a smartphone, but I have no choice because all phone companies and makers only sell smartphones.

What a stupid situation!

Anyway, I really hope I can ditch the smartphone for the rest of my life.

But… is it possible…?
